“From Field to Vase: Making Peonies Last” presented by Dr. John Dole, Ph.D.

 Dr. John Dole is a Professor in the Horticultural Science Department at North Carolina State University.  His research program focuses on the production and postharvest physiology of floriculture crops, in particular, working with cut flowers such as peonies. In this webinar, Dr. Dole will discuss postharvest handling of cut peony flowers, including new research on subzero storage of peony flowers, and his quest to help more people enjoy peonies!

The American Peony Society’s Award of Landscape Merit (ALM) Program identifies free standing and reliable peonies specifically for the landscape. Peony cultivars bestowed this award are chosen for superior ornamental value, overall appearance in the landscape throughout the growing season, and reliable performance considering most locations where similar peonies are grown successfully. Learn from the current chair of the Award of Landscape Merit committee, Cory Tischman, all about the program including the selection process, how you can get involved, and the latest round of cultivars under consideration.
